New Year Beauty

Since celebrating a new year is always exciting, our makeup should be equally as special for such a festive occasion. All three ideas that Ashlyn has included for you today are bold and sure to get you noticed. If you are like me and tend to shy away from such bold looks, I want to challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and try something different. I, too, will be taking this challenge. This is a time to start fresh and look ahead, so why not let your makeup reflect that boldness and bravery? Whether you are celebrating with a small group of friends and family, or if you have bigger plans, try any of these looks and you will be the center focus!(All pictures were taken from Pinterest.)

Bronze + Wine. When I think of huge celebrations, I think of the Roaring 20s. Parties back then were extravagant and glamorous, and that is exactly what inspired this look. Sweep a metallic bronze eye shadow on the upper lid and be sure to blend it well. Use a bronzer on the cheekbones to add a little warmth to the cheeks, but to also avoid making this look go overboard. Finish off with a wine colored lipstick and party the night away.

Navy + Nude. If you love a smoky eye, then this look is for you. First, be sure to prime the eyes. Next, line the upper lash line only with a black liner. Then, sweep a navy shadow from the lash line right up to the crease, as well as on the lower lash line. Take a medium blue shade and sweep into the crease, which will blend all the shadows out, creating that smoky effect. Finish the eyes by highlighting the brow bone and tear ducts and apply two to three coats of mascara. Since the eye is so bold, keep the cheeks and lips muted with a nude pink shade.

Hot Pink. This one is for any girl who wants a fun pop of color in her look. For the eyes, the options are endless. You can use a pretty gold or bronze eye shadow, or you can even do a black winged liner. However, this look is all about a hot pink lip. This shade comes in many formulas, such as a lipstick or lip stain, so choose whatever formula you like best. Show up in this look and you will be sure to be noticed!

Black + Gold. This is the New Year’s classic. Just sweep a gold shadow from the upper lash line into the crease, and along the lower lash line as well. Next, just apply a thick line of black liner on the upper lash line and wing it out a little (or a lot if you are feeling extra bold). To finish the look, just apply a nude pink blush and lip color.

Brown. I know brown does not seem like a super festive color at first, but it can create a beautiful look that is sophisticated and feminine. Take a chocolate brown eye shadow and sweep it on the eye lid into the crease. Be extra sure to blend this shadow out nicely. Next, just take a black liner and line the upper lash line and wing it out, creating a cat eye effect. This look is especially pretty with a soft pink cheek and lip.

Grey + Pink. This look is very versatile. You can apply a darker grey shadow from the lash line to the crease, blend a lighter grey shade into the crease, and line the upper lash line only. Finish this look off with a hot pink lipstick. Or, if you like a smoky eye, you can follow all of the steps I just mentioned on the eye, but sweep the darker grey shade along the lower lash line as well. To keep this look focused on the eye though, opt for a much lighter shade of lipstick instead of the hot pink shade. Show up in this look, or any of these looks, and you will be sure to be the belle of the ball!

Have fun ringing in the New Year ladies!
Xoxo,
Emily Lauren
