{The authentic self is the soul made visible. -Sarah Ban Breathnach}

Happy New Year! To celebrate the first week of 2015, Daughter of Delight is launching its first ever weekly series! After tallying all the votes, the series that will launch today- right now, as a matter of fact- is "How to Live an Authentic Life".

Today, we are going to take a look at the meaning of the word "authentic".

Authentic means to be real or genuine, true & accurate, and made to be. It means to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to tell you otherwise. We live in a world that is calling us into a search for authenticity, a quest for balance and identity. It is our job to create the life of authenticity that will allow us to live to the fullest.

Authenticity is an illusive quality, and it's also one of the most attractive qualities to exist. Living from a place of profound authenticity involves being rooted in your deepest beliefs, values and truth, and living a life that is a true reflection of these things. It is about being true to yourself in all that you think, say, & do. It means being willing to sacrifice any relationship, situation or circumstance that violates your truth. In order to be authentic, you just have to be. And, as easy as that may sound, it's not. We nod our heads in agreement, even when we don't agree with people, in order to avoid arguing or confrontation, we say things that we normally wouldn't say in order to please others, we place ourselves in relationships that aren't good for us just to have somebody....there are so many things we do that, in reality, strips us from simply being.

The quest for an authentic life is a battle. And in order to win it, you have to fight with the things that make you who you are and the confidence that you should have in you. God made you who are for a reason. Do not be ashamed of you. Be proud of who you are & stay true yourself, always. So find yourself & fight. Win your fight & be fearlessly authentic.
