One of the best parts of life is that you'll meet people here and there who will never walk out of it.

One of the worst parts of life is that you'll meet people who will walk in and exit out of it as soon as they get what they need from you. And the disappointment, loss, and hurt accompanied with their exit- whether it's with a significant other or friend- is truly the worst.

We've all been there. We know how it feels. But are we responding like we should?

In Matthew 5:39, Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek: "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also," (NIV). Ladies, the way we respond to people who hurt us says a lot about who we are. Instead of plotting revenge and responding with anger and judgment, respond with grace, kindness, forgiveness, and love. This is a prime example of not only what it looks like to love your neighbor, but also of a true cost of discipleship. Be the bigger person. Jesus set the example, so live up to it- even in the midst of whatever it is that you may face with people. It's okay to let others know they hurt you, but there's a huge difference between responding out of the saddened heart of your hurt versus responding out of the anger and pain your hurt caused you. Don't let your hurt make you forget who you are. Use it to grow and make you appreciate the people in your life that do love and appreciate you. And don't forget just how often the Lord shows you grace and forgiveness when you fall short. Forgive and move on to the bigger and better things that lie ahead! You've got work to do in God's kingdom, so don't let anyone stop you from doing so.
