Jesus promises true joy and abundant life, this amazing adventure walked step-in-step with our Savior. But so often I hold back; I settle when things get hard. I know what Jesus offers is better, but I wrestle with the fear of not getting my way, convinced I know what’s best for my life.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say. – Luke 5:37-39, NLT

When we become followers of Jesus, we become new wineskins! When we accept Him as Lord and Savior of our lives the old wine pressed from our previous habits and defense mechanisms no longer fit with the fresh new life we experience in Jesus.

Yet if we continue to settle for the old wine, accepting the status quo, refusing to step out in faith, and trying to piece together our lives on our own we miss out on Jesus, in all His grace and glory, ready to show us this whole new way of living.

Sisters, may we never find the old wine good enough.
