I love special, intimate moments with God. The moments that can only come from Him and when they happen you just have to smile. I recently experienced a moment like this and I felt so incredibly close to my Savior. It was almost like hearing Him say, “I love you Christian. That was for you, from Me.” Whenever I begin to pray for someone it is the first thing I say, “Lord let them encounter You in the most personal way.”

God wanted us to come to Him. He wanted us to experience this closeness but we were sinners and couldn’t because of all the rules and regulations. But then the Cross happened. The Cross allowed us to begin to draw close to Him and have a relationship with Him. It freed us from our sin and bondage, and instead made us His sons and daughters.

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his Spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. –Matthew 27:50-51

The very moment Jesus took His last breath, the temple curtain tore. The rules and the boundaries that separated us from God literally split in two. What is so important in this verse, is the three words, top to bottom. This is how God made it known He had did it.

But while he was still a long way off, his father same him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. –Luke 15:20 (Parable of the Lost Son)

Like this father…our Heavenly Father closed the distance between His children and Him. No matter the sin we’ve committed against Him, no matter the number of times we’ve run away; God tore the curtain to bring us into an intimate relationship with Him.

Have you been resisting God? Resisting letting Him pull you into His arms? The curtain was torn and it is time to let God fully embrace you. My prayer for you is the same as the one above, I pray you will encounter God in a way you can’t even imagine. I encourage you to pray that over yourself as well. When you feel dry or distant from the Lord, pray He will fill you up with His presence.
God wants us to fully depend on Him. He wants us to be close to Him. He wants us to want Him. He wants to love us. He wants to hold us when we can no longer stand on our own. He wants to pull us in close.

He wants you.
