We live in a world of chaos. If we are being downright honest, everyone would agree. We are constantly being told how to live our lives by the media; Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, movies, and even by books. All of the "do this, do that, wear this, say that, believe this, sing that, and feel this," are so confusing. They are confusing not only to nonbelievers but to believers as well. The darkness has grown around us and it is so hard to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ when we are constantly having to battle the lies and doubt the world is distracting us with. It can be overwhelming and depressing. However, light cannot shine where there is no darkness. Where there is darkness there is always a light. For believers, our light is the Bible.

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:10-11

Jesus left us with a toolbox. A toolbox full of light to help us keep our eyes on Him. The Bible is so important in our relationship with God. In fact, without it there would be no opportunity for any other type of relationship to exist except for one built only on emotion and only when we need God. The Bible should be the first thing we turn to when we feel the world’s darkness closing in on us. It should come before any social media outlet or even friends. It holds the answers to everything we go through. All we have to do is open it up and read.

We live in a world of lies and I am so desperate for truth. The Bible is that for mepure truthand I know that it will never change. So I hold onto that. I let that be my anchor in the storms, I let that be my light in the darkness. Jesus’ way or no way at all. He is the past, the present, and the future. And nothingnothingthis world can do will ever change that.

About the Author

Christian Fisher is eighteen years old and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. However, her heart lies wherever there are tall skyscrapers and sidewalks overflowing with people. Her first love is her Lord and Savior. She has given Him her every move and waits on Him daily to whisper into her heart (even though sometimes it sounds more like a roar). Christians second love is coffee, preferably in a cozy café with towers of Bible commentaries spread out on the top of the table. Christian is a bit sassy but passionate in spreading the love of God to everyone she encounters.
