I work in a clinic. I encounter many people who are angry, scared, fearful. There are some who are grateful, humble and have a good attitude despite what their worry is, but today I want to share a story with you that provided for me a reminder we should all be mindful of.

Earlier this week, I spoke to a nice man who said his wife was battling cancer. He said they have been to one doctor after the other, and they have yet to figure out what to do at this point. He looked so distraught. I wanted to encourage him, so I said, "God can do what doctors can't."

"I don't know," was his response. I proceeded to ask him if she had received prayer from a church family, and he told me that they have her on a lot of prayer chains. I could tell his heart was breaking and he had given up hope. He mentioned to me that his wife was currently studying in seminary. I gently reminded him at this point that God can heal her. He said, "I know he can, but I don't know if He will." We ended our conversation after he thanked me for telling him I would be praying for his wife.

It breaks my heart when people have given up hope in their healing; when they are ready to receive their miracle but it hasn't happened yet. I wanted to say more to this man. I could tell he was so deep in despair.

Jesus performed many miracles while He was alive. He healed the lepers, the sick, the blind. He healed the broken and distraught. He healed not only their bodies but minds. There is power in His name. His name is above all names. That means His name is above cancer, depression, anxiety, diabetes, AIDS, fibromyalgia, etc. His healing for you was sealed in blood. Every stripe on his broken back was for our wholeness and healing.

You may be at a point where you have lost faith, patience and belief for your healing. If you are in this place, I encourage you to read Luke 8:43-48, the story about the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years. I can't imagine how many doctors and how many treatments she went through. People probably fed her doubt and said "There's nothing more than can be done." She was probably just waiting in isolation until her time was to come. But then she heard the name Jesus. She heard about all of the miracles He had performed. She heard about His healing hands. She knew that if she could just touch Him, He would give her hope again, give her life again.

Some of you might be out there wanting to touch His garment. Though you can't physically do that, you can lift your hands and just believe. When the woman touched Jesus, He felt something taken from Him. He looked up at her and said, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over." Do not be afraid to take from Jesus. The woman knew there might be consequences for approaching such a beloved figure, but she knew it was worth the risk. She had such strong faith.

Do not discount prayer and the power of God because of the healings that did not happen. In the clinic, I have heard many women share their testimony with me in how God healed them and they are in recovery. It may not happen instantly, but it can happen instantly.

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. -Psalm 107: 19-20

I don't know what ailment you are dealing with or have, but I do know this: Jesus' name overcame every name there is. The blood of Christ has the power to heal you!

Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. -Matthew 17:20

From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. -Psalm 61:2

Your heart may be faint and tired. You might be overwhelmed with what the doctors are telling you. In the midst of all the feelings of defeat, however, I encourage you to not give up hope. Continue to call on the name of Jesus.
