Our talents are the gift that God gives to us... What we make of our talents is our gift back to God. - Leo Buscaglia

Our awesome God created us with many talents and unique abilities to help built our community in Christ. There's the obvious talents, the ability to sing, dance, and those blessed with both - oh how I wish I was able to do both instead of just one. And the not so obvious talents like teaching, writing, being a good listener, serving, and so on. Many times we are not aware of these talents that are placed in us by God. Sometimes it takes certain struggles in our lives to make us aware of these talents.

We should give thanks to the Lord for placing in us these unique abilities. Our talents and unique abilities can be a musical, teaching skills, communication skills, charisma, your special personality, your ability to give kind words, giving, determination in life, preaching, wisdom, compassion, or anything you are good at.

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. -Romans 12:6-8 ESV

We should identify our talents and unique abilities and put them into good use. We were all created to do something great for God with our lives. He personally created each and every talent in us. Don't allow a talent-less person to affect your beautiful talents that God has shown you to have. Let's be wise and put them to good use and help one another. We're all part of the body of Christ. Stop letting God's gifts go to waste.

I remember reading "use it or lose it!" in an article once. I don’t quite remember what it was referring to but the phrase stuck with me. We have to use our talents or we will lose them. God gave us talents for a reason. A wasted talent is not a good talent.

How are you using your talents to glorify God?
