We are all guilty of trying on outfit after outfit. Why? Because we want to look good. We want to look presentable. What we look like is a presentation to who we are to the world. People dress based on self expression, or, just because they want to feel pretty. I, myself, am guilty of this. I found and still find myself exhausted in keeping it up.

I used to go for the trends. I used to thrive on compliments that people would give me. My whole identity was in what I wore; what I looked like. Because that is the world we live in and this is what we have been taught.

Allow me to shatter this illusion and tell you the truth. God doesn't care if you look perfect. He looks at your heart. He looks at your soul. He looks at the person you are and who you are becoming. You don't need to wear the highest heels to reach the highest heights in heaven. Makeup is not required to be in His presence. You know what God loves? He loves when we are on our knees praying. He loves what we look like after we have been crying while being in His presence. He loves to see us reading His Word. He loves a fervent heart and spirit.

I ask you. What are you wearing? Maybe instead of wearing shiny earrings, you could wear patience. Instead of wearing that trendy coat, you can clothe yourself in righteousness. As much as we wear lipstick or lipgloss, we can wear encouragement. Instead of our lips being stained in red or coral, they should speak the truth of God. Let our perfume be our worship for Him. We won't be defined by what we wear, but who we wear. Are you wearing Christ where you go? There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good, but when that becomes our main focus, we are putting attention for ourselves ahead of our attention for Christ.

If you want to put on something beautiful, put on the entire armor of God. We can be dainty, yet strong if we arm ourselves with the proper wardrobe. I have learned there is more to life than looking good all the time. I would rather clothe myself with faith and righteousness than anything else.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. -Romans 13:14

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience-Colossians 3:12
