Daily Delight

A couple hours into the hike up Colorado’s tallest mountain I learned that what I originally thought was the summit was the first of three false peaks. What at first sounded disappointing, turned into a prayer of thanksgiving. If I would have seen the summit from where I started, there is a good chance I would have thrown in the towel right then and there. But, that is something so beautiful about our King!

He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear and when we are tried He will provide a way out so that we might endure it. -1 Corinthians 10:13

He created false peaks with a purpose! He knows my heart and knows what I can handle; thus, He only gives me each piece at a time. He then allows for me to see the whole picture once I reach the mountaintop. He does not promise me that it will be an easy climb, but He does promise that He will be with me wherever I go (Joshua 1:9). This is the promise I held onto with each step. He beaconed me to take the next step into obedience, the next step into His glory. With each step faith was increased. With each step I was overwhelmed by His strength within me. With each step I became closer to the mountaintop. With each step He reminded me that He delights in me.

He brought me to the summit where I could only give credit to Him, because it was His strength alone that took me 14,433 feet in the clouds so that I may see a sliver of His glory. How beautiful is our King.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. – Romans 8:18
