Daily Delight

It’s too hot outside. My head hurts. The house is dirty. There are so many dishes to wash. There’s nothing to eat for breakfast. My hair doesn’t look right. You’re late. I don’t have time to wait. Answer your phone. Isn’t that obnoxious? I’m annoying myself.

That’s a short version of my day. I have found that it is so saturated with grumbling and complaining that I’m exhausted and angry at the end of it because absolutely nothing seems to have gone right. It seems immature and childish that at the end of the day, I have complained that much.

I can honestly say I’m ashamed.

Do all things without grumbling or complaining or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, sot that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. –Philippians 2:14-17

I live in a crooked and twisted world. By grumbling and complaining, I’m adding fuel to the ugly fire. If the God that thought out all of my days asked me how today was; what would I say? Of course I would point out only the good things because I want to be the brightest light I can be!

Everyday is no different. God knows my heart and my thoughts, so why shouldn’t the world. I’m given the gift of a fresh start everyday, but it’s my choice to make it cheerful or miserable. We are the lights of the world. We have every reason to dance in the rain and rejoice on the mountaintop. I want God to show up and show out for this broken world, but I also have to make the choice to show the world the Savior.

God created us to be His hands and feet and grumbling and complaining doesn’t get us very far.

May you run this race with a happy heart, smile on your face, and joy in your eyes each and every day.
