For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. -Romans 8:18-19 (ESV)

Eager longing. I am someone who sets very high expectations and hopes. I know what it is to eagerly wait. And, of course, I am often subject to disappointment - the things I so eagerly hope for are often not as grand as I expected. What a joy and cause for praise that eternity will be even better than we can possibly imagine. So much so that the present sufferings of this world will seem light and momentary. News headlines go from bad to worse: shootings, natural disasters, wars, famine. But these sufferings will dim in comparison to the glorious light of Heaven. Friend, if you are in a hard place today, wait with eager longing. Your circumstances do not define you, your position as a daughter of God does. Wait along with Creation, with eager longing, for the glory that is promised to be revealed. Amen! Let it be so, Lord Jesus!
