Lately I've been meditating on the importance of sharing our testimonies. In my own life I've been confronted by the fear of judgment and rejection if people were to know my whole story, the nitty gritty details, and not just the carefully selected excerpts I choose to display. Would they still like and respect me? Would they still want to be my friend? Would the woman I once was change their perception of the woman I am now? I can’t predict the answer to any of these questions, but I can say, with confidence, that I'm no longer the person I once was and it’s all because of my relationship with Jesus.

When Jesus healed the man with Demons, He told him this:

"Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. -Luke 8:39 (ESV)

Guess what? Each and every one of you has a story to tell, and your life’s journey doesn't have to fit into a particular box in order to be used! Whether it's dramatic or boring, complicated or simple, full of love or full of loss, God will make much of it if when we are bold enough to proclaim what He has done! Your grief is not wasted. Your good is not useless. You haven't done too much wrong, no you don't have to tally up your experiences before they begin to merit worth. He wants to use you, yes you, right where you are with exactly what you have. Your triumph and trials are all a part of you, His grace has saved you, and there is someone who needs to know that you have made it through the other side in Christ.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. -Titus 3:3-5 (ESV)

Precious daughter, God wrote your story and it’s beautiful. It isn't perfect, but whether it's been a somewhat easy read or you veered off the page a few times, use it to glorify God. Own it, share it, and remember that it's beautiful because it has you in it.
