Recently I have felt embarrassed for having a retail job post college graduation. I had the idea in my head that I would interview with a Public Relation firm and find the perfect place for me. I interviewed with nice people but knew the job didn’t feel right. Instead I accepted a retail job. When I am asked what I’m doing nowadays I can’t help but feel disappointed that I don’t have that topnotch PR job. As I sit here with the Lord I am reminded of Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, do enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men.”

God will never tell us we are not enough. He has said, “Children, I love you and I believe in you”. I actually really enjoy my job. I am surrounded by encouraging, positive women who share a community. What once seemed like a huge disappointment turned into a role of serving others. We have nothing to be ashamed of. We are right where God wants us be to shine our light and continue being a piece of His Promise to the world.

Lysa Terkeurst prayed, "God, thank You for using all things for our good, even disappointment. Help us to look at our disappointments with fresh eyes, discovering gifts where we are tempted to only see shame. Show us how we can love and serve others with passion and purpose right where we are." Amen!
