For the Fame of God's Name; Day 2

It is easy to seek pleasure to satisfy our flesh. Whether it’s an unhealthy relationship, greed, lust, pride, etc., it’s easy to strive to make ourselves feel good.

Sin can feel good, but that doesn’t mean we should give into those desires.

After chasing after the wrong things, you will find that none of those things will satisfy you. Choose to live with the wisdom of Psalm 37:4: “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

God cares about you, and loves you. He cares about your wellbeing.  He wants the best for you.

God is the only one that can satisfy you. No person, or object can give you joy. For a few months, I was distracted and emotionally invested in a relationship. I knew this relationship wasn’t what God wanted for me, but I wasn’t obedient. I would constantly make excuses. I would tell myself that it was okay because we didn't have the title of being in a relationship. Regardless, I found myself distracted. We didn't connect spiritually, and we just didn't make sense. Even though I wanted joy, the relationship couldn’t bring it. I wasn’t satisfied, or content.

God met me with Psalm 51:12: “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.” My joy comes from God, and God alone. It’s important to be obedient, and actively seek Him. In life, we can get distracted by many things. It's important to stay rooted, and firm in what we believe in. It can be easy to want to satisfy the flesh, but remember that the Lord wants what's best for you.

Seek Him first, know that you are loved, and know that only He can satisfy.
