In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. - John 1:1 (HCSB)

Breath held, eyes wide, hands open – waiting...

Promises always do this, don’t they? Make us wait? The time elapsed from the moment words come forth to the moment they are fulfilled, the expanse of hope, this breathing room of faith – this is Advent. The coming of the Word, promised from the very beginning. The waiting, where we make much of the Promise – and the Promise makes much of us.

Where God stretches our hearts and lungs and hope… don’t give up. Make much of the promise – because this is the season where we see, in all its truth and brazen beauty, that He is true to His every word. The Word became flesh.

Let Him make much of you in the wait – because the God who spun the universe into existence could not bear to keep Himself from you… surely that kind of Love changes everything… and that kind of Love can be trusted: He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all-how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? - Romans 8:32 (NIV) …even the strength to wait and the courage to hope?

In the beginning was the Promise, and the Promise was with God, and the Promise was God

A promise kept – a promise keeping us.
