Daily Delight

Candles light and shine, casting a warm glow on the warm glowing faces gathered here. Gathered home. I love that word: gather. All the loves of my life bunched and wrinkled and bundled together. Holidays are for gathering, for bunching up what’s been far apart. For losing wounds and scars in the wrinkles of multitude-covering Love. For bundling up the forgotten ones and carrying them to the feast.

This Christmas, whether near or far from it, you’re invited home. To feast at the gathering table of His love. His love bunches close what’s been far from Him. His love loses wounds and scars and sins in the wrinkles of embrace. His love binds the broken-hearted and says, I’ve saved a place for you. I’ve carved a space for you from this crucifix tree, a place for you in My hands, in My plans …I will gather [you] from [the farthest horizon] and bring [you] to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name. - Nehemiah 1:9 (NIV)

Good Father, gently gathering our hearts closer and closer to Him, closer and close to home.
