This week a friend of mine from last summer opened up about a drug addiction they had been going through this year. It got the better of them and they had been in and out of jail.

One of the saddest things about addiction is that the consequences of feeding a habit can destroy our dreams and annihilate our ambitions. It can make us believe that we are inadequate and small and not worthy of God's love and forgiveness. The enemy is in control.

The great news is nothing is too hard for God! (Jeremiah 32:27 NIV) For anyone suffering from any type of addiction, God has the power to pull you out of your valley, to transform your life. You are so much stronger than you think, or what the enemy wants you to think.

"When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed... Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:13-18 (NIV)
