For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. -Isaiah 9:6-7

The prophet Isaiah foretold of a soon coming King. A King who would be the Prince of Peace – whose reign would never end. This King was to come from the lineage of David. He would be a just and righteous King. The King would conquer sin and death.

The Shepherds, The Wisemen, Mary and Joseph – they all awaited the long expected arrival of the King. He triumphed over darkness in a way that no one expected. He came through a virgin birth. He taught in His Father’s house. He rode humbly into Bethlehem on a donkey as the people shouted “Hosanna – Save us, Lord.” They wanted Him to come and establish His earthly rule by overthrowing all which stood against the Lord and His people. He came. He came as the Lion from the Tribe of Judah and He defeated sin and death in a way that no one expected. He conquered through laying down His life as the atoning Sacrifice for our sins. He came as the perfect Lamb, the Son of God; God Himself.

Revelation 5:5-6…behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered…and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain…

Revelation calls attention to the Lion – the Conqueror – and when John looks, he sees a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain.
Dear sisters, The Lion is the Lamb. King Jesus came to overcome through the laying down of His life. He stands victorious today as the long expected King, the Lion, and the Lamb. Praise Emmanuel – the Beautiful Sacrifice for our Sins!
