Daily Delight

Sunday, December 6, 2015

A few weeks ago I had to run to the store to buy a 2016 planner. 2015 isn’t yet over, but events for 2016 are already coming into my life. 2015 was at many times a busy year and it doesn’t look like 2016 is going to slow down.

Life seems even busier now that the holiday season has approached. My everyday life of work, (attempting to) exercise, and doing chores gets more hectic with the holiday additions of shopping for gifts, going to holiday parties, and making tons of food this time of year. While I sometimes thrive on it, it's easy to get wrapped up in everything and become overwhelmed in the business.

I wish I could say I remember to take the time when I'm busy to bask in God and his glory, but many times I don't. As God says in Psalms 46:10(a), "Be still and know that I am God." (NIV). Some days being still seems like the last thing I have time to do. I know it's the best though. Being still not only allows me to grow closer to God, it also allows Him to take my worries and stresses and put them on his shoulders instead of mine.

When life gets busy, the best thing to do is to be still.
