2016. New year, same God. A year ago today I desperately wanted a clean slate, a new joy, worth and meaning. What I really needed was restoration. As the year unfolded, the Lord wanted to do a work in me. He wanted to press me, mold me and change my heart, my way of thinking. It was uncomfortable but He refined me. Along the way, He brought in a community filled with God-fearing, wonderful people as well as reconciliation in my family. He guided me into victory after victory on issues I thought I never would have. While I had a rocky start, and my hope seemed afar off, God completely turned everything upside down. As I look at the New Year approaching, I am excited! I’m ready to see what God is going to do in my life. Are you?

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. -Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)

Whether good things come our way, or hardships spring up, God is still good. Nothing He does goes to waste. This year, I want to enjoy the ride. I want to rest in the contentment of knowing God is moving and goes before me in all things. We are stepping into newness. Perhaps you are in a place where you are broken and fear what God will do next… I beg you not to let fear win. God is for you. He may allow you to go through fiery trials, but He will also take your hand that He knows so well and carry you through.

Look up and see the beauty that is emerging from the ashes and anticipate all that God has waiting up ahead. I promise you there are good things. From someone who fell into the trap of hopelessness, I am telling you there is abundant and wonderful joy waiting for you in this upcoming year.
