Daily Delight

2015 was definitely a year of big changes for me. Some brought great joy to my life while others hurt. I cried out “why, God?” a couple times during the year. I try to always trust in God and his plan, but with a hurting heart it can become easy to question why certain events are happening.

I am not the first to question God’s plans. In the book of John we see Jesus being questioned as he tries to wash Simon Peter’s feet.

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand,” (John 13:7, NIV).

Jesus’ reply is simple, yet stops me in my tracks. I do not have to know every little detail of what God is doing in my life to know that his plan for me is greater than my plans.

He asks for my trust instead of relying on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

There are still things that took place in 2015 that I don’t understand why they occurred. One day I may understand why they happened, but even if not, I know they were all according to God’s plan (and that’s all that matters).

One of my goals for 2016 is to spend time loving and praising God and his plans instead of trying to understand them.
