Often, I find myself getting so wrapped up in my busy schedule that I begin to loose sight of all the things that truly matter. Things like school, work, homework, sports, and friendships can sometimes start to consume our minds and our time to the point that God seems very far off. But the truth is that God is so very near to us and all these mundane moments have a far greater purpose that we might be seeing.

What I’ve realized is that often I end up letting these moments shift my gaze back towards myself as I focus on my own ability to complete all the tasks on my long to-do list. I begin to lose sight of the significance of the blessings all around me and I end up drained as I rely on my own strength to go through the day. But I believe this leaves me with a wonderful opportunity: In the mundane moments of life I can choose to depend fully on God, seeking His provision over all the details of my life. He cares about each part of my life and is completely able to provide all that I need. Our character can grow just as much in the routine seasons of life as it can in the trials. Dependence on God is something we are always learning.

As I go to class, meet a friend for lunch, or do my Spanish homework, I can be praying for God’s strength and provision. I can be thanking Him for the blessing and opportunities He has given me and rejoicing in the grace of a new day. Seeking God and relying on Him in all the routine chores of the day can make a seemingly normal day become full of joy and gratitude.

This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm118:24(ESV)
