And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. -2 Cor. 9:8 (NLT)

When it comes to motherhood, there are days when I forget the truth in this verse, for so many areas of my life! Some days, my patience is stretched as far as it can possibly stretch, and I’ll react with an attitude that is less than glorifying to God. I have a tendency to worry about next week, next month, next year, when God has already told us not to worry about tomorrow. A long day stretches into a long night at times, and I’m not sure how I could possibly function the next day on so few hours of sleep. Crunching numbers and wondering how our finances will stretch this month. Boy, am I thankful for God’s grace.

I am so thankful that I do not have to rely on my own meager supply of grace. Each dawn of a new day brings a new prayer and fresh supply: “Lord, please give me the grace I need for today.” Just one day at a time. He doesn’t ask us to stock up a week’s ration of His grace and portion it well. He just asks us to step into one day at a time. Give us this day our daily bread. He gives us grace and strength to conquer another day for His glory. Not only does He give us the grace we need for today, he also gives us a surplus to extend to those around us! To give us patience when we are at our wits end, strength when our bodies try to tell us we are weak, energy when we feel weary, trust, when we start to worry about tomorrow, provision over our finances, grace. How blessed am I to be given God’s grace even on the days when I feel I least deserve it! Every day I am given a new opportunity to be better than I was the day before; as a mom, as a wife, a friend, a daughter.

His grace is sufficient for us, and it’s renewed to us every day. We walk with Him one day at a time, and our needs for that day are met. Delving into a deeper trust with Him to say, “I will glorify you with my life today, and I will trust in You with tomorrow; it’s left at Your feet. All I need now is grace for this day that you’ve given me. Amen!”
