Social surveys say women frequently look into mirrors. The number currently stands at eight times daily. I am guilty as charged; not to forget my looking at any reflective surface that can pass as a mirror. A good personal image remains a huge societal expectation of us but more importantly, as daughters of the King, we are called to reflect our Father’s image. No amount of makeup can effect this transformation - nothing less than a divine power is needed.

And all of us, as with unveiled face, (because we) continued to behold (in the Word of God) as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; (for this comes) from the Lord (Who is) the Spirit.  -2 Corinthians 3:18(AMP)

Like a sunflower that follows every moment of the sun, so do I turn towards the Son and follow Him. At first, like a plant, there is the breaking out of the soil. Here I feel like there is no progress-no growth; I am burnt-out, annoyed, weary and disheartened. But in the very time of my faintness, I flourish and begin to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. My Master then continues to prune out my withered leaves: my bad habits, fears, failures, guilt and shame.

We may sometimes look at our imperfect lives and wonder-shall we really be like Him? However, we are assured that as long as we fix our eyes on Him- a constant beholding of Him and not a momentary look in the morning nor a brief glance here and there- we shall go from glory to glory. We will never be the same; we are forever changed.
