The love story of Isaac and Rebekah in Genesis 24 is captivating. The movement of God within it incredible. The content of this story has so much to say, so many expressions at all at once. And it tells us that it isn’t about Isaac or Rebekah, but about God and how He reflects His love through their love.

It tells us how faithful God is, and how He provided Rebekah to Isaac gets me overwhelmed. It brings my attention to why Rebekah left everything to start a new life with Isaac. How did she know that Isaac was the right man for her? How did she know that she would be happy with him? Her faithfulness to God encourages me to lean into Him more in my daily life. She trusted that God was leading her to the right man; in some ways He had answered her prayers as well. The story shows how fully God knows us, how aware He is of our every step and desire in life.

In the Old Testament Hebrew lexicon the spelling of Rebekah is “Ribqah” and stands for something that is glued or tied to something firmly.

But pay attention the spelling of “ribqah”. Rib, does that sounds familiar to you?
Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. -Genesis 2:22

God is working behind the scenes to glue Himself to you, so let Him mold you into that rib for your future spouse. It will all be for His glory, because your deep love for each other will reflect His love for both of you.
