Though it may be short, the book of James is made of immense and beautiful teachings. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. -James 1:5-6

James 1:5-6 teaches us about the kind of Christians we should be and the type of God we serve. As daughters of Christ, we must ask our Father boldly. If we lack wisdom, then we must ask God for wisdom. However, pleading and begging or asking hesitantly shows a lack of faith in God’s abilities. Therefore, we must approach our requests to the Lord as if we know they will bring us closer to Him.
The Lord wants us to ask Him boldly. Maybe this is why so many believe their prayers go unanswered. Do we tiptoe around when we pray? Do we politely ask the Lord something but know in our hearts that we do not believe it will happen so we lightly come to Him about it?

James teaches us that we can come to our Father boldly in prayer, and He will answer it in time. If we have faith as big as the ocean, then we may see the Lord’s handiwork more and more in our lives.
At the end of the day, remember: No request is too small for God. So pick up your confidence and walk boldly to His throne!

About the Author

Hope Boyd≫ ≫This 19-year-old gal receives the honor of calling Clarksville, TN, home. Hope Lauren is in her sophomore year at Austin Peay State University and works part-time for a local coffee shop inside of a beautiful antique marketplace in her hometown. When she is not knee deep in the Word of God, Hope can be found grabbing coffee within a 100-mile radius (she loves to coffee shop hop) or on any trail--as she frequently takes hiking trips to the mountains in the eastern part of her beloved state. Hope will only be calling the United States home for three more months; she will be moving to Ethiopia to serve as a field director for a non-profit that advocates child sponsorship and cares for the orphans in Africa. She is thrilled to be spending her last few months in the States with the Daughter of Delight ministry and can hardly wait to see what the Lord has in store for everyone this season.
