I don’t want to walk under God, fearing Him or His wrath.

I don’t want to walk above God, not caring about His will.

I don’t even want to walk for God, where I serve Him to receive some reward.

I just want to walk with God.

I crave a forever friend, a constant companion who understands me, yet I often fail to find one in God. I long for a personal relationship with someone who knows my heart, yet I often turn to God only when I’m not “too busy.” I want for someone to walk with me in this crazy life, but I forget that someone already is.

I want to learn to have a selfless heart. I want to give without expecting praise. I want to love without limits.

Luckily I have a companion in Jesus who is the best example of all of these things. He is selfless and giving, yet we often forget to praise Him. He knows our hearts and thoughts and still loves us unconditionally.

So here’s to finding a friend in Jesus. Here’s to learning to walk with Him daily. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. -Hebrews 12:2
