Sometimes, prayer can seem like it's just something on our to-do list. Like it's just something to check off and complete for the day. We know it's important but do we really know why?

You can get lost in worship. You can sing along to a song and not necessarily have to connect to it.
But prayer is closer to a one on one conversation with God. It's lends itself to vulnerability, honesty, and listening more than just about any other act of faith.

Prayer requires us to give and prayer requires relationship. Unrehearsed, uncensored, and completely unadulterated relationship is what God longs to have with with us.

More than a perfectly rehearsed prayer He desires the real us coming to Him just as we are, exposing our worries, longings, and the desires of our hearts.

Which is why I said prayer requires us to give. By giving in prayer we give way to let in the God who knows us, but we also give way to let in the God we want to know. In the same way we learn friends and family through relationships and conversations so we also learn our God. This is why prayer is important.

Prayer is the physical location where we grow our faith. It's the where we learn about the Creator that created us, who He really is, who we truly are.

It's where we gain everything we need to step out into this world and know where He leads us is good. It's where we can take refuge when we’re broken. It’s where we can find the strength to try again and it’s where we can rejoice in where we are headed. Prayer is the place where our faith is realized. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! -Ephesians‬ ‭1:17-19‬ ‭MSG‬‬
