For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)

Just a heads up, there is a war being raged for you right now. Seriously. As you are reading this very sentence there are spiritual forces at work fighting for your heart, mind, and soul. We as Christians are all under attack by the prince of this world, the devil. There is no question about that. You want to know what that looks like for me? Satan comes hard and fast at my thoughts. Satan blinds me to my own faults and shortcomings in relationships so that I am quick to blame others or to judge. He tricks me into thinking that other people are the problem and on and on. And for too long I have tried to fight his schemes by my own efforts and that always falls apart. Its hard to fight a heavenly battle with an earthly weapon y'all. So what do we do to fight this unseen enemy? We take up
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph. 6:17). This may sound like a silly church illustration but it's not. There is power in the word of God, so why not use it? When I look at some of my favorite women in the Bible, I think of warriors. Strong, determined women, who made mistakes, but were committed to fighting for Christ. My fellow sisters in Christ, we too are warriors in the kingdom of God. So it's time we picked up our sword and used it. It's time we got deep in the word of God and let the words permeate down into our hearts. When we commit to studying the word of God and keeping His words in our hearts, we can ready for whatever Satan tries to throw our way. We know how this battle ends.. The victory has been won by Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Let that truth take root and empower you as you go to battle each and every day.
