I want to change the world. I have dreams and visions of being part of a movement that will radically change the way our world looks. I have experienced the incredible working power of Jesus and my heart yearns to see others around the world experience it too. The only problem is sometimes I get a little antsy. I want to see things moving and shifting right now! Because from where I am standing it doesn’t really seem like God is moving me in any direction. If anything I feel, kind of trapped. Stagnant. Unable to move myself no matter how hard I try. And when I take my slow movement frustrations to God, He seems to ask me the same question every time, “Do you trust Me?”. See, what I am learning is that God grows you where you are. He isn’t waiting for you to get to “this” or “that” place before He starts working on your heart and in your life. He has planted you in that job, that city, that church, that friend group so that He can cultivate you for the things to come. God always develops us before He develops our vision. Embrace where you are at wherever it may be, reminding yourself it is not by accident. Nobody likes to wait. I know I’ve read and heard story after story about the beauty of waiting. Yes there is beauty in the waiting periods of life, but it can also challenging and discouraging when you realize you can do nothing and must wait on the One who can do everything. I believe that it takes strength and courage to trust God while you wait on your hopes and dreams. Strength that keeps holding on when things don’t logically make sense. Courage to believe that God has not left you to handle things on your own. To believe that God is just as interested in the process as He is the finished product. Choose to focus on the ways our Father is developing you as He develops your vision. This is my command- be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
