This always happens. In the middle of my personal time with Him, getting lost in His words, I always stumble across something that makes me think of a new entry. Maybe it shows that I’m not focusing on Him, or perhaps it shows that my heart and my ears are wide open to what He wants me to do with the verses I’m reading. Regardless, here it is with a sudden bolt that stops you in your tracks-

HE chose you. And if you’re anything like me, then you will sit there and question it for a solid five minutes while trying to think of a single reason why the King of the Universe should choose you. A million reasons come to mind as to why He shouldn’t. I sin, I don't obey, I'm not perfect, etc.
The list of reasons why He shouldn’t choose me can go on and on, but this isn’t confession. These reasons don't matter to Him. In fact, He crosses them all out. So the only question I can possibly ask is: “Why would He choose me?” The honest truth is, I don’t know. I don’t have the answer.
I just keep thinking about how unworthy I am to be chosen. How undeserving, how weak, how poor, how imperfect. And how every time I do something against what the Bible tells us, it’s another thorn in His head, another lash on His back, another pounding of the nails in His hands and feet!
I caused those.
And yet He still chose me.
It’s unbelievable, it’s unfathomable, it’s Truth.
But just like with everything else in life, you can’t just look at one thing, you have to look at the whole picture; You have to keep reading. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as His sons [and daughters] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will– to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves... -Ephesians 1:4-8

I sit here, awestruck. I’m not worthy. I’m not deserving.
But He still chooses me. Why?

Because He loves us. And He would do anything for us. In fact, He did everything for us.
Take some time to ponder on Ephesians 1:4-8 today. Maybe it’s time we start living like the chosen ones.
