If you find comfort in having control and ambiguity makes you a train wreck- raise your hand! Flexibility has never come easy to me and I cringe when people diminish those feelings to, “go with the flow.” Lately, God has been revealing that his vision for my life may not align with my self-imposed expectations. I’d like to pretend that I am 100% content with that. But we are sisters in Christ, so allow me to be real for a second. I say that I trust in the Lord, I sing all the sweet hymns about trusting in him, I’m confident when I’m reading his word and praying. But when the real tests come and it starts looking like he is pulling me in a direction I don’t want to go, I begin to play tug-of-war with God. Have you ever been there? You try to bargain with God by pulling him towards the job you want, relationship you want, opportunity you want. Your mouth says you have faith, but your actions reveal that you’re using your energy to fight against him. He sees you huffin’ and puffin’- losing your footing and dragging yourself into the mud. And he is pleading with you to let go. Be still and know that I am God, (Psalm 46:10). Dear Sister, let’s soak up the peace of sweet surrender. Let’s stop growing exhausted, take our calloused hands, and wipe them clean. God is going to win the battle and his plans will prevail. So we might as well be on the same team, instead of opponents. Let's use our strength to war in prayer and fight against the real adversary (Satan). The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. -Proverbs 16:19
