I am going to be honest with you; it can be really hard for me to live in grace. I am a recovering perfectionist who stumbles over mistakes like they could be land mines. A bit dramatic, but failures feel fatal apart from grace. Which is why living in grace is so necessary and life-giving.

Today I’m throwing us all a lifeline. A reminder that holds us secure no matter what land mines seem to be hiding in the dark of our failures and shortcomings.

If you are in Christ, you do not live in your failures, shame, or sin anymore. You live in Christ, which means you live in grace. God longs to be gracious to you and His grace is available to you right now, no matter what.

Oftentimes, how I practically live in grace when I feel like I am about to be swallowed up by my mistakes is: I stop, admit to God my sin, let it go, take a deep breath, and receive His grace and hold onto His promises in His word. Here are a couple of my favorite reminders of God’s grace…
..but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My loving-kindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me. -2 Corinthians 12:9 (Amplified)

Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them]. -Isaiah 30:18 (Amplified)
