After my husband had back surgery I took care of him and my house became more than neglected. A family form my church sent ladies to clean and when they arrived they asked, "what areas do you want us to tackle?" The FIRST area that came to mind was my laundry room. This room is like a torture chamber, it's where socks go to die. There are never ending piles of laundry and it smells like tears and lost dreams. A normal person, would have said "please, in the holy name of Jesus, clean my laundry room. You don't even have to clean anything else, just clean that one room." Instead I said "I don't know, like, the bathrooms?" I literally shut the laundry room door as if it were the gateway to Mordor. I was embarrassed about that room looking the way it did and being in the condition that it was in.

This can reflect our relationship with Jesus. We have that one "room" we don't want Him to see because we are embarrassed by it. We think, "if I can clean that up a little first, then I will go to Jesus about it." This is a lie that we can't believe. We are all a mess, He knows we are a mess, He came to earth and died for our mess. He sits at the right hand of the Father to intercede on the behalf of our mess. Jesus is asking, "what do you need me to clean for you?" We can answer with, "uuumm I cuss a little." WHAT? You cuss a little? Sure, let Jesus uproot that, but what about the issues that are deep down in your heart that you are afraid of someone seeing or knowing you struggle with? Jesus already KNOWS that those things are in there, He is waiting for you to say, "please clean this for me, I'm tired of trying to do it myself and what I'm doing isn't working anyway." Jesus is just waiting for us to be honest about the struggles we face so He can FINALLY go in and begin to work in ways that only He can work. Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) When you go before Jesus get bold and ask Him to heal the BIGGEST challenges you face because Jesus is still in the business of setting people free! If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. (John 8:36)
