...but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life, (John 4:24).

We need to be thirsty for Jesus.

Too often we are not thirsty enough for Him, for the living water Himself (Jeremiah 2:13). The moment we become unaware of our thirst for time spent with Jesus is the moment we need to realize how deeply thirsty we actually are.

As I soaked in the Sunday message at church, my thirst for more of Him was revealed to me. The shocking part is we are in constant thirst for Him all the time, but it’s not always a clear picture to us. We have schedules and checklists and jobs to do, it’s not often we pause and renew ourselves in Him. It’s as if we were running a marathon without ever stopping to rehydrate.

We need to be overflowed with Him. We need to be eager to know Him, to be eager to spend time dwelling in His holiness. We need to understand who He is so we can live in perfect peace knowing that no matter how anything turns out, we have confidence that in all the imperfectness of life He still meets us there. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence, (Jeremiah 17:7). Our decision to strive to be loyal daughters as we trust in the Lord and be thirsty for Him, is a decision we make on our own. Our thirst will be the one thing that fills us as we constantly go to Him for more of Him. Because the more we thirst for Him, the more we are filled by Him every time we breathe in His grace.

Daughter, continue to be thirsty for Jesus more and more; being constant in prayer so that your love will abound more and more (Philippians 1:9). The good news is, even when we have those moments where our thirst to desire seems so far away, we can have confidence that when we ask Him, He will always supply the desire you need to bring you back thirsty for more of Jesus. (James 1:5-8)
