Do you ever feel like you are constantly striving? Maybe in a relationship, for a career, or in pursuit of who you think you should be. There are so many expectations put on us by either ourselves or by others. It can be exasperating trying to fight so hard.

Everyone used to tell me to just be still. In my restless little heart, that seemed like an impossible pursuit. I was used to striving and fighting my own battles, thank you very much!

It wasn’t until I made a series of unfortunate decisions, propelled with my self-sufficient and sassy determination, that I cried out to God. In that season of complete brokenness, I told God for the first time that He was the one that gave everything and took it away. I acknowledged that no amount of striving would ever give me the peace that following Him would. Then, I released my grip on all of the things I desperately hoped would come to fruition.

It was a transformational moment for me to finally embrace His words that said, The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still (Exodus 14:14, NIV). Somehow, in my twenty-something years of life, I’d never let the sweetness of those words sink into my spirit. He adores me enough to go to battle for me: I just have to let Him be the warrior that He promises to be.

Take a second with me today and ask the Lord to fight the battle that you've been dealing with for far too long. Release it with me to the one that passionately loves us enough to fight for us. The Lord is our provider and our Jehovah Nissi, our battle fighter. It’s time, ladies, to trade in our striving for victory!
