Take a moment to flip through the pages of your life. Some might be wrinkled and torn, stained by tears and spilled coffee; others glossy and fragrant, sweetened by favorite memories. Some are crispy and white, patiently waiting for more to unfold.

We all have a story to tell. God too has a story. Our lives sing of earthly pain and heavenly goodness. We give our hearts to Him and our narratives mingle with His until we can no longer separate the two. Now, the tragedies tell of His faithfulness, the mistakes shout His redemption, and the breakthroughs reveal His goodness. Every story, every page, miraculously points back to Him. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes, (2 Samuel 22:25, MSG). David expressed this after God saved him from Saul and all his enemies. David’s life was full of challenges and mistakes, yet God’s rescue plan always won.

Since exposing the pages of my heart to the eyes of God, I’ve experienced the sweetest intimacy and the greatest miracles. In my heart’s vulnerability, in its confusion and utter mess, He flipped every page and read every word. He understood, He stayed, and He began rewriting my story with His own.

The Father has shown me how to receive love after being hurt, and I’ve experienced restoration in family. Jesus has taught me how to be a daughter, and I’ve received freedom from old habits and ways of thinking. The Holy Spirit has encouraged me to be brave and I’ve let go of fear and control. The Lord continues to make all things new (Revelation 21:5) in my life and the lives around me.

What has the Lord done in your life? How has He rewritten your story by weaving in His own?

By the way, there is much more to be written, for our stories are still unfolding.
