Warrior princesses always fascinated me. The picture of a strong, yet feminine, warrior is still idolizing. Deep in our hearts, there is the desire to be victoriously winning battles for our loved ones – even for ourselves. To succeed in setting captive hearts free, engaging in healing, and experiencing this for others and ourselves is a breathtaking adventure we so long for. We want to be that fierce warrior. We admire Joan of Arc, her courage as she said, “In God’s name, we must fight them!” A small awakening in our hearts whispers perhaps we were always meant to be this warrior. And yet, we never believe it.

There is a battle cry written in 1 Peter:

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, (1 Peter 5:8).

What other reason would Jesus encourage us to empower ourselves in His strength? It’s because we are His daughters, His beloveds, His warrior princesses who have been born to join her Father’s battle in bringing forth His kingdom. The battle we are fighting is “against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms," (Ephesians 6:12). The reason why we are hesitant to speak, to move, to act, to love, to offer mercy, to offer who we are to others is because something is always holding us back from fully being alive in Christ. Reveal yourself to it all around you. We are in constant warfare.

This battle isn’t a solo one. We cannot fight to bring forth healing, love, or fully live like a redeemed daughter without our Mighty Fortress by our side. Our reliance on Him to come in and strengthen us to be His warrior princess is magnificently beautiful. He uniquely crafts us into fierce, tender, and feminine warriors as He reigns in our hearts.

You are a warrior princess.
You always have been. And with Jesus by your side, you always will be. Go ahead and recognize the battles before you, Jesus will empower you with His unfailing deliverance.
