The car door shuts. "Have a great day!” You look down at your lunchbox and up at your school with a twinge of uncertainty. The warm kiss lingering on your cheek fuels you with bravery.

It’s funny how parents could ease your mind with the simplest gestures. You might have been nervous about making friends or presenting a project, but a quick kiss and a “have a great day!” was all you needed to know that you are loved and you can do this.

In a very similar way I felt Jesus "sending me off" as I drove to work one morning. A warm kiss-on-the-cheek and have-a-great-day. Equal parts love and enthusiasm. I had been feeling uncertain of how the day might unfold, and this simple moment with Him gave me peace and confidence. But God isn’t limited by time or space like our parents were. He wished me a great day with a flurry of His affection, but He never actually left. He didn’t have to. So I smiled oddly to myself because I knew that He was going to be there every step of the way.

My presence will go with you. I’ll see the journey to the end,” (Exodus 33:14, MSG).

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28:20, NIV).

He did it for Moses. He did it for the disciples. He’ll do it for you.
This opportunity to write for Daughter of Delight has been incredible. I have explored moments with the Lord in new ways because of it, and I have delved further into His heart and nearness. In this final piece, all I want to share is that you are loved and He is near.

In John 14, Jesus comforted His disciples in a time of uncertainty. He promised to never leave, He promised the Holy Spirit, and He promised His peace. Those same things He promises to you, now.
