Daily Delight

For as many blessings that I’ve received in life, somehow I’m always wanting more. I have been beyond blessed by God, that when I am not given something that I have either been longing for for one day or 23 years, it’s like I become angry that I am only given life’s necessities.

It could be because we live in a land of luxury, or just simply the way we tend to view God from time to time. For us as a whole, though, it may be the rush of wanting a new car, house, job, relationship or awaiting a big event in our lives we have been longing for. It always has to be something newer and better. Why does it always have to be wanting the next thing, rather than enjoying the current thing?

We have to remind ourselves that we shouldn’t feel the need to be “guaranteed” anything in our life- no matter how much we want or think we “need” it. All we truly need and are guaranteed is the love of Chris for us. His unconditional and everlasting love is all that matters.

Yes, this is something I am always working on. We are all guilty of it, and quite honestly it will be something I think we will all struggle with continually because of society today and how we are as followers. But we can most definitely get better at overcoming those times and accepting God in those moments.

In the end, He will meet our needs as He sees fit. I am learning to be happy with the things I can and cannot change. I am also striving to stop building my own kingdom, and start building His. Each day we wake up, we are one step closer to Heaven. If we are thankful and count all of our blessings at the end of each day- I think it will change our perspective a lot more towards what Jesus would want for us. Today let’s not forget who He is and what we are really here for.

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." -2 Corinthians 9:8
