So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. -Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Wow. Raise your hand if you are fearful every single day. I’ll raise both.

Whether you are afraid of the unknown, of rejection, of not being good enough, of pursuing your dreams, of failure, of death, or of the next step, God tells us in His Word to not be afraid. Why? Because He is our God.

We need not fear because He is the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God. And He is ours.

In the past few months, God has placed this huge passion on my heart, but I have not pursued it because I am afraid. I am scared of rejection and of not succeeding. In those moments, God whispers to my worried and scared soul, “Step out in fear, dear daughter. Cross the line where fear starts and comfort ends because in those moments of fear, you will put all of your trust in Me, the never failing God. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

When we fully know and fully trust the ultimate plan and love of God, we will not worry about being ready and being rejected. Maybe it’s not about being ready, because truth be told, we will never be ready. But maybe it’s about being willing to step out in fear and cross the line. It’s about standing on the edge of our comfort zone and looking out into an abyss of the unknown and shouting “Here I am, Lord, send me.” Friend, I urge you to write down any and every promise God lays on your heart when you are afraid. In seasons of despair and fear, I encourage you to read those promises and remember how in those moments, God lifted you out and spoke His Word to you. Do not be afraid, sister, because we have a God who is bigger than any fear we can ever experience. And the greatest thing about it? He cares. The God who is powerful enough to move a mountain and split the sea is also caring enough to listen to our fearful heart and bring us out of the muck.
