Many of us put our trust and hope in the things of this world. We live as if we’ll live on this earth forever. We spend our days worrying about how much money we can make, how successful we can be, how many followers and likes we can get. We have become a culture of “It’s all about me, I have this and I want that.” Much of our focus lies on the things of this world and ourselves.

Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also," (Matthew 6:19-21, NIV).

We often forget that our life here on earth is really for a brief moment.

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes," (James 4:14, NIV).

Jesus says, “Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life," (John 12:25, NIV).

Are you so concerned with the pleasures of this world that you are short of finishing this race for eternal life? Are you committed to denying self, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, being of service to others and is your mind focused on making Heaven your home?

Have you picked up your cross to follow Jesus? Are you prepared to give up the life you dreamed of just to live again?

We must be willing to be different and follow Jesus if we want to live for eternity.
