When you make a true connection with God, it moves you to action. “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass…” (Luke 2:15, KJV). The shepherds did not hesitate. They simply left their sheep. It’s like the disciples in Luke 5:27,28, Matthew 4:18-22, and Matthew 9:9…they immediately left everything- family, property, possessions- to follow Jesus. These shepherds didn’t just go…in verse 16 it says “they came with haste.” They were in a hurry! They couldn’t wait! If you had the angels proclaiming in all of God’s glory in the sky appear to you, wouldn’t you want to see what they were praising about?!

When you make a true connection with God, it moves you to share. “And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child,” (Luke 2:17, KJV). The shepherds didn’t care who believed them. The shepherds didn’t care that they were shepherds. “Why would God appear to you? You’re just a shepherd.” They didn’t care if people thought they were drunk, or delirious. They spread their story far and wide. Has your connection with God made such an impact on your heart and mind that you are willing to throw caution to the wind and tell your story?

When you make a true connection with God, it causes others to wonder. “And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds,” (Luke 2:18). Evidence of God in your life will be noticed, if it is there. Do you have enough of God in and with you that others see it, and wonder?

Everything the shepherds did that night was a natural outpouring of their experience. It wasn’t forced, it wasn’t required. It wasn’t on a checklist. God didn’t say at the end of the angels’ proclamation, “Now, I want you to go see it, then go tell everyone, so they can think about me more.” When you are intimately walking with God, the joy and beauty of your experience should simply move you. Will you be moved today? He’s waiting for you.
