"You should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ," (1 Corinthians 11:1, NLT).

That’s what Paul says. In other words: "Do what I do."

This is no small statement. For Paul to be confident to ask the Corinthians to act as he does he must first be sure that he is living a pure and righteous life so that anyone who does imitate him will be living like Christ.

Well, I know for sure that I am in no position to be telling others to imitate me so that they can imitate Christ. But what an incredible challenge. What an inspiring purpose. Not only can we strive to live a righteous life for our personal relationship and walk with God but we can endeavor to live life knowing that anyone who follows by our example is simultaneously following by Jesus’ example.

Just think of what an impact that can have. Your colleagues can see Jesus in your actions. Your school mates can see His love in your decisions. Your family can see His wisdom in your words. And because of Jesus shining through you they will be instinctively drawn to you and seek what you have.

Yes, this is a scary challenge. But it is also an exceptional privilege to be able to draw others closer to the one true Savior. To be able to share the gift that He has freely given in our everyday lives.

When you’re feeling unmotivated, unnoticed and unimportant just remember: you are ‘Christ’s ambassador,’ (2 Corinthians 5:20, NIV). In fact you may be the only glimpse of Jesus someone sees.
What better motivation could we ask for?

Smile. Take bold steps of faith. Spread joy. Rely on His strength. And see others transformed. And in the middle of that you will notice yourself being transformed too.

It really is a win-win.
