New Years Eve, 2016; the last day of the year.

Tomorrow begins a brand new year. And for many, this means a brand new beginning. It means “hope”. Maybe it’s been a rough 2016. Maybe your financial state has been a mess. Maybe you have lost someone close and a new year may bring you peace. Maybe this past year you have looked too much into your past, and the new year is a new start to focus more on present and future. Or maybe there are goals you feel confident about reaching as the new year rolls in. No matter your situation or circumstances, a New Year brings hope (A desire of anticipation or expectation with confidence.).

But what about on January 30th? Or February 28th? Will that hope still be there? The hope that your are trying to restore right now as a new year approaches? Or will it diminish as we falter? One mistake and it’s gone. One thing gone wrong, and it’s gone. One goal not met, and the hope is lost for success. Let me encourage you my friends, Jesus is the only one Who can restore our hope. Fulfill our hope. Sustain our hope. “Our only hope can be found in the Lord, (Psalm 39:7).

If we rely on ourselves to have a better year- we will fail; but if we rely on our Sovereign Lord, our faith is strengthened, providing assurance for what we hope for. (Hebrews 11:1) Hope and faith are two of the core characteristics in walking with Christ. Our relationship with Christ begins with faith, as our hope only grows continually in Him alone as we learn all that He has in store for us, giving us a promise of hope of what is to come. Our hope is built from our character, our character from our perseverance, and our perseverance from our faith. (Romans 5:4)

So instead of looking over the past year with impatient do-overs, let it be reminders of endurance and tested faith, allowing this new year to be not a “new start”, but a roll-over of perseverance built-up, faith built-up, and built hope that is put only in the Lord as He brings new things your way. {words:@p31shelaughs ; photo: @keeelin_it}
