I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20, NIV). The past week has been one of anxiety, fear and confusion for me. But over the weekend, amidst my raging thoughts and chaotic emotions came a gentle but firm whisper, “Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)

In Galatians, Paul doesn’t write ‘I live in a Christ-like way’ or ‘I glorify Christ with my life’. Instead, he writes, ‘Christ lives in me’. Do you realize that the Yahweh we worship actually lives in you? That the Creator of the heavens and earth has chosen to make your body, heart and mind His resting place? That the God who led the Israelites out of Egypt in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night leads you not from afar but from within? That the One who healed multitudes in the New Testament is at work in your soul? That the Victor of all creation resides in your very being right this very moment?

Take a moment and let the weight of these four unassuming words settle in your heart. It is nothing short of mind-blowing, eye-opening and earth-shattering. Throughout this Holy Week, allow the power of this simple but important truth course through your veins and brighten your vision. Feel the weight on your shoulders lift and your heart warm with immeasurable hope. Realize that your Christian story is less an ‘I should’ but an ‘I can’ in the face of anything and everything for the Great I AM, the Lord of All who can, who will and who has, gave everything just so He could make His home in you.
