Daily Delight

“The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain” (Genesis 6: 5-6, NIV).

The words “only evil all the time” in that passage haunt me—especially when I look around at the world today and see child abuse, pornography, sex slavery. “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them” (2 Tim. 3:1-5, NIV).

If that doesn’t define the world today, I don’t know what does. Praise God for Daughter of Delight. A light in the darkness. And you are a part of it. Every time you take the time to read a devotional, Christ’s light shines from you. Every time you share a post, you share that light. We have the Gospel. And God has promised that it always bears fruit when we share it.

Only evil all the time. Have nothing to do with them.

Easier said than done, I know. We watch TV programs and read books with foul language and explicit sex scenes and convince ourselves that it’s not a big deal.
Have nothing to do with them.

We have to guard our hearts, stand firm, put on the full armor of God. “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God” (Phil. 1:9-11, NIV).

We have to shine Christ’s light in the darkness, my sisters. Shine on!
