"Comparison is the thief of joy!" This well known quote by Theodore Roosevelt quote might be a bit  overused to the ears of many, but these words will always stand true. How many of you have found yourself caught in this trap, comparing things like your body, your job, your income, your achievements, or even your way of living to someone else?

Have you actually thought about why comparison steals our joy?

Here’s how I like to look at it. Comparison, for me, often brings thoughts of guilt, sadness, and an overwhelming sense of feeling like I’m not enough. These emotions are lies from the enemy. His very aim is to chip away at the beautiful truths that God pours over and into us daily. The enemy plants comparison. The very second we start to believe the things he feeds us is also the very moment we start doubting God and His abilities to invade our hearts and our lives with the individual promises He’s planned for each of us!

Sister, today I want to remind you that you serve a God who loves you, adores you, cherishes you, and delights in you for all that you are (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV). When comparison creeps in, remind yourself that He has ordained you, destined you, and chosen you for things far beyond your wildest dreams (Ephesians 3:20, MSG). Right now, you might not understand exactly what He’s doing, but all you need to do is focus on Him and His plan for your life, not His plan for others' lives. The moment you take your eyes off the blessings and work He is doing in you now is the moment you are allowing the enemy to invade your life with the trap of comparison. Don’t get caught in it. Don’t let him steal your joy. Instead, walk out this promise today, "'For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).
