We are called to live in confidence of who we are in Christ, not who we are in the world. I don’t know about you, but I have struggled a lot with that. We live in a society where the physical and temporal seem to be of greatest value, and I often catch myself being sucked into that cycle of thinking. The one that says that I’m not good enough, that my walk with God isn’t as "incredible" as hers. I have caught myself comparing, believing what the world says I am. All the while, we think these voices satisfy us.

I heard the story of Gideon again the other day. The way God calls Gideon a "mighty warrior" in his cowardice has always struck me (Judges 6:12). He hadn’t become the powerful man that we know he later would. You see, our Father knew Gideon’s heart in that moment, but He chose to speak his potential over him—what he would become. Gideon stood in confidence in the strength of God’s Word given to him and he became.

The heart of our Father is inherently prophetic. He will always speak life into our hearts based on the treasure He sees in each one of us, not who we are right now. God always sees us through the lens of righteousness—the finished work of the cross—and He sees the beauty of who He is forming us to be.

Where the world fashions an idea in our hearts that we are worthless, the Lord sees the treasure in us. We serve a Father of victory. Victory over our circumstances, our worries, our fears. Why be confident in the fleshly things that He already has victory over? Why not stand on His grace and be confident in what He speaks over each one of us?
